Guillaume Pierrel Remembered After K6 Peak Avalanche During June 2026 Expedition In Pakistan’s Karakoram Range
Guillaume Pierrel, an accomplished French mountaineer and ski athlete, died after an avalanche struck during an expedition on K6 Peak in Pakistan’s Karakoram mountain range.
The incident occurred in the Hushe Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan at about 5,000 meters while Pierrel was attempting the 7,282-meter summit with French climber Boris Jule and Swiss mountaineer Christina Maria.
The team began the expedition on June 6, 2026, and aimed to climb one of the region’s most demanding peaks.
Pierrel, around 40 years old, earned respect for difficult alpine routes, ski descents in the Mont Blanc massif, and major expeditions across challenging mountain ranges.
Friends, climbers, and outdoor athletes remembered Pierrel as humble, skilled, determined, and deeply devoted to exploration.
Authorities in Pakistan continue to review the circumstances, while memorial service details will be announced later by family members.
