Casper O’Brien, Seven-Year-Old Flint Township Child, Remembered After November 4, 2025 Medical Emergency And Reported Severe Neglect
Casper O’Brien, a seven-year-old child from Flint Township, Michigan, died in November 2025 after a reported medical emergency at home.
On November 4, 2025, emergency workers responded after a 911 call and took Casper to a nearby hospital, where efforts to save the child did not succeed.
A recent autopsy report said Casper weighed 255 pounds, stood just over four feet tall, and died from heart failure linked to extreme morbid obesity.
Officials said Casper had been unable to walk, run, or stand from bed for months before the final emergency.
Local prosecutor David Leyton described the case as willful neglect and said Casper had never attended school, had no pediatrician, and saw a doctor only once.
Authorities also found Casper’s five-year-old sister in unsafe conditions outside the home without proper clothing, with dirty, heavily knotted hair and serious weight concerns.
Last week, Casper’s parents appeared in 67th Judicial District Court on serious felony counts, including second-degree homicide, torture, and multiple child abuse counts, and officials held them without bond.
Memorial service details and funeral arrangements will be announced later by family members.
