Thomas Murty Remembered After Passing In Boston During Long-Awaited Scotland World Cup Trip As Family Seeks Help To Bring Tam Home
Thomas Murty, known as Tam, passed away in Boston after traveling from Scotland to support the national team at the World Cup.
Thomas collapsed outside the Dubliner pub in Boston on Thursday, June 18, 2026, and passed away the next morning.
Family member Gavin Murty created a fundraiser on June 24, 2026, titled “Bring Tam Murty Home from Boston,” with £15,380 raised toward a £28K goal through 723 donations.
The family said Thomas loved Scotland deeply and had waited nearly 30 years to see the country reach a World Cup again.
Relatives plan to bring Thomas home from the United States, arrange a fitting farewell, and share memorial service details at a later time.
